Summary/Abstract: This research paper examines a way of functioning of EU security system, using description, classification and explanation, with a special focus on transitional countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. This has resulted in understanding of achieving adequate foundation for establishing new relationships, under European transition and integration processes, between security authorities and social community institutions (citizens). The research confirms causal and consequential dependance and interconnection between internal political processes (of democratic development of society) and European integration processes, that is safety of citizens, under democratization of society and the emergence of new global security threats. Results of the research could be used to better understand setting up of efficient security institutions to counteract security threats in European accession processes.
