Summary/Abstract: Jędrzej Moraczewski’s thoroughly subjective memories reveal a small dose of privacy. However, through the mesh of the author’s life story, they show the picturesque Galician reality, the mechanisms determining the functioning of institutions, offices and political parties towards the end of the 19th century, as well as the intellectual elite milieu in the 19th-century Lwów. This environment had a great impact on shaping Moraczewski’s national, civil and political consciousness. It also affected the choice of his ideological path and his active participation in public life.
