Summary/Abstract: An analysis of the individual’s position in the proceedings concerning the conferral of an academic degree and title has been presented in the monograph. Its main aim is an attempt to define the position of the individual in these proceedings, its comparison to existing standards which specify the position of the individual in a general administrative proceeding and, at the same time, an attempt at finding the determinants which have shaped the procedural position of the individual in academic degree and title conferral proceedings. The legislature has defined this position by employing relevant regulations of the Code of Administrative Procedure for the said proceedings, thereby allowing a lower standard for the procedural position of the individual in these proceedings. This dissertation is the first monograph on the subject in the Polish literature. The book presents research results in the field of administrative procedural law. These include the solutions adopted in the previous (2003) act on academic degrees and title and in the new Law on Higher Education and Science of 2018, called the Constitution for Science (or the 2.0 Act). At the same time, the author criticizes the solutions which result in limiting the procedural privileges of the individual in the relevant proceedings, adopted in the interim regulations included in the act of 3 July 2018, Introductory Regulations to the Law on Higher Education and Science. The target audience are mainly academics and people who take part in academic degree and title conferral proceedings, as well as university bodies, administrative courts, attorneys and legal advisers specializing in matters of higher education and science. The book is also intended for university students and doctoral students.
