Summary/Abstract: Drawing on the theory of literature and different perspectives of various literary criticism schools, the author studies an image of the woman reader in the realist and naturalist Spanish novel. With this objective in mind, he has chosen the works of three canonical realist and naturalist novelists as reference points, namely Leopoldo Alas Clarín, Benito Pérez Galdós, and Emilia Pardo Bazán. This selection reflects the need to obtain adequate samples that would allow to decode various interactions between the book and the woman reader.
