Summary/Abstract: A collection of articles published in the years 2009–2016 constituting a voice in the discussion about the current condition and future of Polish universities. The author, professor at the Wrocław University of Technology, had the opportunity to observe academic life from various positions and in various situations. In his considerations he asked the question about the sources of the peculiar separateness of the Polish academic world from Western university environments. Searching for answers, he came to interesting reflections, which he published in the magazines, believing that when the time comes to discuss the state and prospects of university education in Poland, some of his conclusions will spark a debate.
