Summary/Abstract: The results of theoretical deliberations and empirical research on the phenomena and processes that make up the educational leadership of teachers and its determinants presented in the publication reveal the complexity of this issue. Opportunities faced by this professional group and challenges resulting from changes taking place in the developing world were discussed. Attention was paid to the roles played by teachers in intra-school groups within the scope defined by law and expectations of the school environment. The final section presents the experience of teacher leadership in selected countries.
