Summary/Abstract: A broad approach to the subject of boredom, susceptibility to boredom and the state of being bored from a psychological, philosophical, pedagogic, sociological, theological and psychiatric perspective. The author shows terms, theories and the typologies of boredom, discusses the methods of measuring the state of being bored, examines boredom as a quality and describes its frequency. He reflects on the negative consequences of chronic boredom as well as the beneficial ones of situational boredom. He presents the results of his own research on boredom in Poland in the psychological and sociodemographic aspect and ponders on the theories about the internal structure of the notion of boredom.
