Summary/Abstract: Analysis of essential aspects of institutional preschool care and education for young children and presentation of selected conceptual solutions.The author analyzes them against the background of two approaches: liberalism-based and "grass-roots experimenting" based on civic initiatives. He wonders about their characteristics, conditions and consequences, and the chances of their success. It indicates the open and hidden dangers that are associated with the breaking of solidarity and social unity, with the domination of individualism, rivalry and competition. Referring to theory and practice, he proposes examples of specific conceptual solutions (Reggio Emilia, High / Scope Program and diversified education) that fit into the space of civil society and fit into civic, community activity, dictated by concern for the common good.
