Summary/Abstract: What we call today « the historic avant – garde » is a phenomenon which is internationally spread within the space of arts and European literature, in the first half of the XXth century, it is a state of mind relatively unitary (Pop Ion, 2006 : 9). Contrary to other literary movements of the XXth century in Romania, the information regarding our own artistic avant – garde are found on the same line as the European one. On one hand, certain themes were similar to those belonging to this part of the world, but, on the other hand, the writings had a different level of novelty and of liberation which, put together, express the fusion between word – meaning. Thus, we find at the writers belonging to the avant – garde different and precise subjects as the fantasy, the creative imagination, introspections, time obsession, the subconscious or the pursuit of perfect love. The irony is present under different forms.
