Summary/Abstract: The study is an overview of the existing initiatives, regulations and planned activities supporting the development of the European hydrogen market. Presents the EU strategy for hydrogen containing requirements for energy policy, plans for the development of hydrogen technologies and the hydrogen market, supply and demand shaping, infrastructure construction, the use of existing and new financial instruments and methods of supporting research and innovation. Describes the new Hydrogen Act initiative aimed at harmonizing, integrating activities and regulations related to hydrogen, which focuses on infrastructure and market aspects. The initiative envisages taking action in three phases: market start-up, development and growth, detailing the necessary changes and new initiatives. The study also presents changes under the recently adopted “Fit for 55” initiative. The package envisages the preparation of legislative proposals to bring existing climate, energy and transport legislation into line with EU’s 2030 and 2050 climate goal.
