Summary/Abstract: The eponymous Wild Man is aware of his place in nature. The article presents the view that interdisciplinary research, which brings human and earth sciences together, requires an ecological turn in humanities. A good example of such research is the analysis of the transition and transformation process of the Polish society after 1989. In order to carry out this project it is necessary to consider the trajectory of Poland’s history seen from a civilizational perspective since modern times. A system method, which consists in presenting landscape as a process uniting society and environment, is suggested for this purpose. The proposed research should result in adopting a new paradigm of science derived from complex thinking.
