Summary/Abstract: This article presents an attempt to subsume the issue of linguistic valuation in political communication on the example of media coverage. There are currently not many publications devoted to the use of systematic valuating terms in relation only to the language of politics, this article meets therefore the needs of exploring this research area. On the example of selected examples from the immense space of political communication, the mechanisms of selection of valuable lexemes and other linguistic means, as well as their functions that they can perform in the discourse about gaining and maintaining power have been demonstrated.
