Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to the relationship between ideology and translation. After discussing approaches to ideology and discourse within CDA, and signalling the main area of research on ideology and translation (lexico-grammatical choices), the article goes on to propose extending the search for ideological effects and underpinnings of the discourse of translations to editorial cuts, as well as to erroneous interpretations of the source text. Those issues are illustrated by Polish translations of English writings on the economic aspects of globalization. An important point made in the paper is that ideology may affect translators (and/or editors) in ways they not necessarily aware of.
