Summary/Abstract: The paper provides a look into ideological elements of communication in case of history writing about the battle of Vienna (1683) in Polish and Austrian history textbooks. The precise definition of ideology and methodological guidelines and procedures for its analysis by Jef Verschueren introduced in the first part, lead to the analysis of selected fragments in terms of time, space, involved people and direct context of the historical event, which allows the conclusion showing national perspective on the said event.
