Summary/Abstract: Saudade is one of the keywords that characterize Portuguese culture. It is believed that no accurate translation of this term can be provided. The aim of the text is to analyze how contemporary Polish writers define saudade in various literary texts. They do not try to translate it, but their attempts to describe it prove that the emotion itself is familiar.
