Summary/Abstract: A local magazine is for a reader a source of benefits and dangers. Both overt and covertmechanisms which can influence a reader and shape his/her worldview can be noticed ondifferent structure levels of materials they contain. On the basis of “Strzelec Opolski”, a localweekly magazine, dangers involving among others language mistakes in texts or vocabularyvulgarization, as well as unquestionable benefits such as any interventions taken by the editorialboard and its preventive measures aiming at repairing reality were shown.
