Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims at taking a closer look at the situation of the German language in Bosnia-Herzegovina. To that end, it firstly examines in greater detail two selected areas from a general macro perspective, namely German at university and the use of German (in nonGerman-speaking countries). Hereby, it focusses in particular on the question of why German is learned and when it is used. Secondly, the article refers to the specific situation of German in Bosnia-Herzegovina, with a particular look at the situation of remigrants.
