Summary/Abstract: The work highlights those moments that make the theory of the eminent scientist Tzvetan Todorov original, distinguishing it from the other numerous discourses on otherness and difference. The complex path to mobile identity is reconstructed on the basis of the concepts "deculturation-acculturation-transculturation". In this "dialogical" and "hierarchical" identity the French is leading, and the Bulgarian is present not only as a memory, but also in a dialectically sublated form, as an internal stimulus for the distance of that who is always "on foreign soil".
