Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify the challenges facing the EU in world trade and to analyze its approaches to solving them. The applied methodology includes: descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, induction and deduction. The result shows that the EU faces several major challenges – resolving the crisis in the multilateral approach to world trade, which calls for reform of the World Trade Organization; Challenges related to the main competitors and partners (USA and China) and the need for modern instruments for protection in trade policy; challenges related to sustainable development and the green transition.
