Summary/Abstract: The concept of herstory has grown out of a critique of traditional historical writing to mean discovering the forgotten history of women. In recent years, books aimed at young audiences which implement this concept have appeared on the Polish publishing market. The article presents the portrayals of Polish heroines in children’s literature, offering a discussion of issues related to narrative strategies, the structure of texts and the relationship between facts and fiction contained in them.
