Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to female researchers who started studying Ukrainian traditional embroidery as an independent phenomenon. They also played an important role in the formation of embroidery as a Ukrainian national symbol. The paper notes the contribution of each of them and identifies the main directions of research, initiated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and then continued and developed by modern female authors.
