Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the concepts of culture, identity and nation in an attempt to present the most popular perceptions of their range and specifics. Political discourse is also at focus as a specific social form of language. The aim of the paper is to study the penetration of national culture in political discourse. Fragments of political speeches in modern Greece have been examined in an attempt to represent the significant role of national identity in political speaking.
