Summary/Abstract: All of the environments and conditions that affect an organism are called the environment. All living things interact with the environment to survive. This interaction brings up environmental health and waste management. Developing technology, rapid population growth, change in consumption demands and the increase in therapeutic health services have led to an increase in the burden of medical waste in health institutions. Wastes generated in health institutions are classified as domestic wastes, medical wastes, hazardous wastes and radioactive wastes. Such waste may contain infectious agents, toxic chemicals and heavy metals and radioactive materials. Therefore, medical wastes pose a danger to both human and environmental health. Especially in underdeveloped and developing countries, it is necessary to provide medical waste management with appropriate legislation and methods.
