Summary/Abstract: The report examines the impact of investments in scientific research activities, which are classified as one of the most important economic factors for the development of the economy and society. Stimulation of scientific research and innovation depend on the implemented policies and the attitude of the state to these activities, the results of which directly affect the competitiveness of the economy. The economic conditions in which our economy is developing and in which the educational system functions puts the Bulgarian higher schools in front of the need to overcome a number of negative consequences. Accent is placed on the challenges, problems and solutions facing the „Todor Kableshkov“ Higher School of Transport, related to research activities.
