Summary/Abstract: The founder of the Free University for Political and Economic Studies (knows today as UNWE) belongs in an encyclopaedia of influential historical figures. Stefan Savov Bobchev has left a lasting mark on Bulgarian politics, science, education, culture, journalism, and social life. Less known are his achievements in the development of the Bulgarian print media, even though he is the author, contributor, and publisher of nearly 40 periodical publications. The aim of this article is to trace and evaluate Bobchev’s involvement in the history of Bulgarian print media. The article makes use of archival sources, press publications, and the scientific literature.
