Summary/Abstract: The contribution of the banking sector in a sustainable development of Georgia is high. In order to increase the stability of the financial sector, strengthen its role and increase the efficiency of sustainable financing, it is important for the National Bank of Georgia to improve the supervisory mechanisms and the financial market through implementing the practices of the European Union. The article focuses on the structural features of the financial sector that contributes financial stability, the aspects of the Georgian economy, the social and environmental issues of the sustainable financing framework, the analysis of climate-related risks, the management of financial risks related to sustainability, the convergence of the Georgian banking legislation with the legislation of the European Union, the CRD IV package, the directives of the European Union and ways of implementing legal regulations, assessment of corporate governance and reporting system, improvement of audit quality.
