Summary/Abstract: Achieving better gender equality is still one of the challenges that the European Union (EU) has to properly address. The current EU gender equality strategy aims to erase gender inequalities in all policies areas and actions of the EU, highlighting the importance of strong legal frameworks to protect and promote gender equality. The EU recognizes the need to suppress any form of discrimination and disadvantage based on gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, disability, and other factors. The task is even more challenging in cases where individuals may experience overlapping forms of discrimination. In this context, the paper analyses how and if the intersectionality principle is integrated in EU policies, improving gender equality.
