Summary/Abstract: Depending on the success of humanity, in the use of the technologies of theinformation and communication era, the roles of the infodocumentary specialist areessentially changing and the spectrum of mandatory skills is expanding. These representthe knowledge of information sources, the provision of quality services, the knowledge ofinformation and communication technologies, the multi-aspect study of the user. Basedon the proposed methodology, the author identifies a set of professional skills, necessary forspecialized library staff, to successfully provide library products and services. Emphasis isplaced on continuing education opportunities in skill development. It highlights the momentof obtaining new skills to face challenges and create a positive image in society
