Summary/Abstract: The transition to sustainable development requires a fundamental shift in thinking that for years has been outlining a destructive line of consumption with devastating consequences. Nature’s inability to accept the results of human actions, and man’s ability to absorb the devastating results on his health, have made it clear that unless man changes his attitude, he will soon become a victim of his actions. This paper analyses the theories of fundamental transformation towards sustainable production and consumption discussed in the social science field.
