Summary/Abstract: Disruption in the continuity of cultural memory raises questions about the meaning of tradition and possible methods of its preservation. In his publishing project "Die Märchen" (2019), Michael Köhlmeier sets out to tell fairy tales in an innovative manner, using intertextual referencing to link traditional motifs to contemporary subject matter. Moreover, he creates identification patterns, which allow the reader to both identify with their own cultural tradition and reflect critically on its defining modes of thinking.
