Summary/Abstract: Healthcare professionals, including psychotherapists, are one of the most affected groups working with the patient, exposed to Covid-19. The pandemic situation forced psychotherapists to work remotely and patients to undergo this form of treat- ment, another was impossible for some time. In the post-covid situation, changes in everyday life are observed, which are visible in the functioning and professional and interpersonal organization as well as the general mental well-being of patients. The online mode can be used not only as a substitute or coercion, but also as a standard procedure for patients who cannot attend regular face-to-face therapy sessions due to various constraints. The pandemic situation justified the changes that should be introduced in psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational work, which can be a chal- lenge for both the therapist and the patient. The leading role in shaping the professional self-determination of specialists is played by self-knowledge – the process of getting to know oneself, one’s potential and actual properties, intellectual abilities, character traits and relationships with others. This phenomenon is a dynamic process that never ends. In the environment of mental health professionals, especially psychotherapists, there are important turning points in the mobilization for remote work, starting from the first, basic ex- ternal motivations that we all reach for, especially when we lack knowledge in new circumstances or face a situation for stressful or crisis, by deep important needs that determine the ‘high-octane’ internal motivation. During a pandemic and unexpected world changes, it turns out to be important to place the individual in the hope of a chance to improve the situation of the psychotherapist and the patient. Hope is important: that the world is on my side, that I am able to cope with the threat, that I have a chance to develop my skills, broaden my insight, to cope, that I have all the resources within me to cope.
