Summary/Abstract: The Simulated Patient (SP), also known as Standardized Patient, sample patient or patient instructor is a person who is trained to portray patients, family mem- bers, and healthcare team members and takes part in learning sessions, assessments, examinations and educational films to support the teaching of skills in communica- tion, interviewing, physical exam, counseling, and patient management. The essay presents a range of technologies used in simulation and concentrates on the work of SPs with students at Poznan University of Medical Sciences. The authors have been working as SP for ten years and share their personal experience of their contribution to educating healthcare professionals.
