Summary/Abstract: The plasticity of the brain is that of its feature that allows for a perma- nent change in the response of nerve cells caused by environmental or endogenous stimuli. It is the basis of its ability to adapt, learn and remember, and initiate repair processes. Modern neurobiology has identified many aspects of brain plasticity: related to individual development, memory or experience, structural damage or functional pathology. In addition to the role of brain plasticity, the importance of neurogenesis, i.e. the formation of new cellular elements of the nervous tissue, is studied by re- searchers of the nervous system in the context of using neurogenesis in preventive and therapeutic activities.Work can affect the plasticity of the brain. This phenomenon was not without significance in the evolution of the human brain and its higher functions. Re-following the trail of these evolutionary processes in neurorehabilitation may contribute to the return or strengthening of certain brain functions. On the other hand, the imbalance between the intensity and duration of activities, e.g. professional ones, may lead through stress and sleep disorders to trigger pathomechanisms in the brain causing its dysfunctions or structural damage.
