Summary/Abstract: The aim of the text is to show the idea of work on the example of edu- cational activities undertaken in the Middle School and High School in Rydzyna in Greater Poland in the years 1928-1939. The creator of the concept of the school and its founder was a teacher and educational activist, Tadeusz Łopuszański (1874-1955), the first minister of education in reborn Poland. The idea of the school was accom- plished with the help of the chairman of the School Board of the Sułkowski Foundation, Mieczysław Chłapowski (1874-1939), who continued the tradition of organic work in Greater Poland after regaining independence. The history of the experimental school in Rydzyna is an example of education based on the idea of work, which has been well documented by its creator and director Tadeusz Łopuszański. The idea was continued after the war in the form of the so-called „creative schools”. Rydzyna’s achievements are embedded in the current of educational changes of New School, which appeared in Europe and in Poland at the beginning of 20th century as experimental schools.
