Summary/Abstract: The rate of economic activity of the population is one of the indicators of the state of the labour force. Indicator values are also dependent on the demographic development of the population in productive age. The paper aims to compare the development of the rate of economic activity of the population in the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic within the period 2000–2020. The research sample was created from the databases of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic and the Czech Statistical Office and evaluated using the methods of descriptive statistics and regression analysis. Results proved that the economic activity rate of the population is threatened in the long term in both countries. In the period 2000- 2020, the economic activity rate in Slovakia decreased by 1.3%. The analysis of the development of this indicator in the Czech Republic (period 2000- 2020) showed that the economic activity rate increased by 4.82%.
