Summary/Abstract: In the context of accelerating digitization in the construction industry, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has emerged as an innovative technology that is transforming traditional design and execution processes. This study examines the benefits of BIM integration over conventional methods, through a comparative analysis of a project realized in 2D using AutoCAD and 3D modeling through Autodesk Revit. Utilizing the original data from Dormitory 7 at the Technical University of Construction in Bucharest, the research evaluated the time and cost differences for each method. The results indicate that BIM contributes significantly to saving time and materials, due to its superior accuracy and ability to reduce human errors in the design and execution process. Although BIM adoption requires a considerable initial effort, the long-term benefits include cost optimization and better resource management, which underlines the importance of further modernization through BIM integration in the Romanian construction sector.
