Summary/Abstract: Globalization is the most important characteristic of international relations at the beginning of the twenty-first century, together with simultaneous fragmentation of production and political processes. On one hand, we see a very strong impact of the only superpower, the United States, whose liberal system of values and economic, political and military force are the prime movers of global processes; on the other hand, we witness a distinct democratization of international relations, whose outcome is the emergence of many new sovereign states built on the ruins of the collapsed communist system of values, and on the foundations of a flexible mode of production and scientific-technological and information-communicational progress. International integrations, such as EU, are one of the most important elements of globalization process which is based on the structural changes in the world economy. The theory of liberal internationalism views international integrations as inseparable part of globalization, as basic foundation for the realization of the concept “peace by integration” in the international system with increasing interdependence.
