Summary/Abstract: The limitations of resources, increasing complexity and vulnerability of human systems, fuzzification of the space relating to the definition of belonging and uncertainty in it, increasing a number of decision-making actors are some of the crucial determinants of socio-economic development with a direct influence on all elements of economic systems. Innovation in the management of socio-economic development processes incl. planning seems to be needed reflecting “new conditions” in socio-ecosystems. In this context, the theory of commons represents an innovative approach with potential to face the challenges in conceptual, processual and also institutional level. This paper presents a new approach to the development of socio-economic spatial strategies underlining the role of cooperation and competition in the development processes with special attention to the processes of networking, clustering and development of fuzzy structures.
