Summary/Abstract: Innovation activities of new firms and SMEs are important for future growth and economic competitiveness. Therefore, they are subject to government support programs. The paper presents the results of a representative survey of innovative entrepreneurs that was conducted as part of the 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor project in the Czech Republic. Ninety one entrepreneurs were interviewed in regards to their innovation activities and requirements for innovation support. Based on these results, the authors derive specific recommendations for the modification of the current Operational Program Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Competitiveness (OPPIK).
