Summary/Abstract: The year 2001 was a period of stabilizing the international status of Slovakia, concerning mainly practical implementation of integration ambitions having absolute priority in the country's foreign policy. Successful proceeding in the EU accession process (Slovakia concluded 22 chapters by the end of 2001), accomplishment of Membership Action Plan, an active approach to the Visegrad co-operation that became regenerated after 1998, stabile development of relationships with the member states of both integration structures and with neighbouring countries - all this is proving for a positive foreign policy balance of the country in the previous year.
