Summary/Abstract: The social economy is a relatively young, interdisciplinary direction. Therefore, it still has to solve problems related to both its identity and its practical realization. Given its nature and the principles adopted for its realization, the social economy is considered one of the most resource-intensive (in its practical realization) activities. This is because the focus is placed on the man as the ultimate goal of the economy, as a unity between the action and the constantly growing vital needs. It is even assumed, that the quality of the human action, depends on the degree of the satisfaction of the human needs. This implies both a continuous improvement of the basic theoretical concepts in the social economy and a new reading of the theory of the consumption and needs in the context of increasingly drastic proposition on the limitation of resources.
