Summary/Abstract: The crisis in the eurozone began in 2010 and continues to melt even after 2010, and although the EU imposed measures to be taken in threatened states, the exit from the crises has been filled with uncertainty. The EU has called for anti-crisis policies, especially in southern European countries, where austerity policies have been imposed that have led to rising118unemployment, declining the real wages, reducing the social security system and privatizing the public property. The paper aims to analyze these austerity policies in Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain, known as the GIPS countries in the field of the remuneration, the pensions and the privatization policy, and to outline the possible effects of these policies on the development of the European social model. Data from Eurostat and the European Commission have been used.
