Summary/Abstract: The article consists in a synthetic overview of the current state of researchon the anthology as a genre, its transformations as well as contemporary condition(with particular emphasis on literary activity within the genre in socialist realism). Theauthor points out that the anthology remains an underinvested genre in the Polish literarymilieu wherein dictionaries and literary encyclopedias often fail to dedicate duespace to the term, and monographs and articles do not do it justice either.
