Summary/Abstract: This essay is inspired by my experience with wood pasture systems and rural societies from Southern Transylvania, as researcher, manager, and inhabitant of that region. The essay is intended to stimulate discussion and fresh thinking around value domains linking human societies with production landscapes. Consistent with that, the literature list is far from comprehensive but rather serves as an entry point for readers who are interested in this topic. This essay is inspired by my experience with wood pasture systems and rural societies from Southern Transylvania, as researcher, manager, and inhabitant of that region.
