Summary/Abstract: Corporate environmental responsibility is a comparatively new term, which is not equally understood and interpreted by business, authorities, consumers, non-government organizations and stakeholders. In the same time the environmental behavior and ecological footprint of companies become more and more important topic for consumers as well as researchers and legislators. Business environment, alongside legislation and institutions change dynamically, which sets new standards and requirements by which companies should operate and develop. Easy and wide access to information and advanced technologies, combined with turbulence of consumer behavior urge companies to rely on alternative sources for competitive advantage. The aim of this article is to show the importance of corporate responsibility in business operations and to outline benefits for companies from effective implementation of corporate responsibility strategies.
