Summary/Abstract: While the last decade of the XX century is primarily related to international recognition of the Republic of Macedonia, during the first decade of the XXI century the country faces as before serious cross-national problems and contradictions mainly between the Macedonian and Albanian ethnic groups and the dilemma for its further steps for integration in the Euro-Atlantic structures – the EU and NATO.
