Summary/Abstract: First part of the paper considers the problem of defining food security and scientists’ current attitude towards defining and measuring the level of food security. The second part presents an overview of the current food security determinants and trends in the world as well as the current situation in this field. This is the background for the third part, which tackles the problem of food security in China, including current situation, the main challenges and the means taken to ensure this security.
