Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on changes over time in number of politically appointed top positions in Slovak local state administration. Political appointments to top positions contrary to advertised competition can be seen as one of the most important dimensions of politicisation (see Peters and Pierre, 2004). In Slovakia, several dramatic changes have occured in local state administration since 1993, e.g. integration in 1996, fragmentation in 2004.
