Summary/Abstract: While the debut of the euro and the foundation of the Eurozone at the beginning of 1999 amounted to a very important point in the international monetary system, Slovakia was not directly affected. At that time the country only kept hoping to enter the European Union, never imagining that a membership in the Eurozone could possibly take the place almost promptly afterwards.
