Summary/Abstract: Since the beginning of humanity, countless number of people have had to leave their places and homelands due to various reasons such as climate conditions, natural disasters, wars, economic crises, human rights violations, and security. Unfortunately, this international migratory movements still continue. Due to its geographical location, Turkey lies between unstable and poor countries on its eastern borders and stable and wealthy countries on its western borders. For this reason, it is both a transition and a target country for asylum seekers and refugees (tbmm.gov.tr, 2010). Thus, Turkey has become an important actor in terms of global migration in the last two decades, and while it was a source country before, now it has become a `target` and `transit country`.
